Crisp air, cooler temperatures, gorgeous leave…must be Fall!  While we love these days in the transition to winter weather, the cooler temperatures may have implications for your pet’s safety.  A few dangers to be aware of:

1.  Rodenticides–As people winter their boats and garages and prepare to keep out unwanted pets, rat/mouse poisons become more plentiful.  Even if you don’t use these in your homes/yards, your neighbors might.  Be prepared for changes in pet behavior and be prepared to call if you see impaired movement, seizures, tremors or extreme lethargy.

2.  Acorns! Yes, these autumnal treasures can present a hazard to your inquisitive pet.  As you’re out on your walks, keep your pet from ingesting them.

3.  Antifreeze–Your pet will note its sweet taste and be unaware of its dangers.  Be sure to clean up spills after routine car maintenance or leaks from your automobiles.
